For one factor, the classical seiten – the Kama Sutra and Aranga Ranga from India, Le jardin parfumé from Arabia or the El-Ktab from Turkey – were published for the primary time legally in Japan. The Japanese Wikipedia has no particular entry, but a category “seiten” specified as “textbooks about sexuality” (sei ni tsuite no kyokasho), with links to “Kama Sutra”, “Aranga Ranga” and Van de Velde’s “The proper Marriage”. Gakken’s Kokugo daijiten more specifically defines seiten as “books explaining about sexuality” (sei ni kansuru koto o kaisetsu shita hon), and Iwanami’s Kojien defines it as “books made for the purpose of offering sexual information” (seichishiki o ataeru tame ni tsukutta hon). From the serious instructional to the sensationalist bawdy, the range of these seiten books and articles was quite wonderful.

A reprint was revealed after the struggle, in 1948. The publisher Toseisha, nevertheless, break up it into two components and revealed them as Seiten kyoiku-hen (Sex Encyclopedia – Education) and Seiten byori-hen (Sex Encyclopedia – Pathology). In 1948 it was re-issued under a distinct title, Seiten kenkyu seiaijutsu-hen (Sex encyclopedia studies – Love strategies; Seikagaku Shiryo Kankokai, 1948), and this time it passed censorship. Yuta and Shinobu each fall in love with Hagu, however Yuta hides his emotions and tries to be a pal to Hagu while Shinobu expresses his love in ways in which seem solely to scare Hagu, akin to calling her “Mousey” and consistently photographing her. E.g. (translated from the unique German texts) watch extra hentai or lesbians love trans girls. Akatsu translated several of Noguchi’s books initially written in English into Japanese – e.g. his Serum prognosis of syphilis (1911; jp. Shogakukan’s Nihon kokugo daijiten loosely defines seiten as “books through which various issues are written about sexual issues” (sei no kotogara ni tsuite iroiro to kaite aru shomotsu), Shogakukan’s Daijisen additionally usually defines it as “books written about sexuality” (sei ni tsuite kakarete iru shomotsu).

The 530-web page quantity treats every potential facet of sexuality in a sober and factual method and lives as much as its title “Sex encyclopedia”. The time period seiten was first coined in the 1920s, when the new term sei gained ground and replaced older phrases for sexuality similar to iro or shiki (see part 1). Akatsu Nobumasa’s ebook Seiten, first printed by Seibundo in August 1927 as third volume of its Dai Nihon hyakka zenshu (Great Encyclopedia of Japan) collection, was the primary e-book featuring seiten in its title. Similarly standard was Shimada Hiroshi’s Onna seiten – Fujin no igaku (Sex Encyclopedia for eformati.it Women – Medicine for https://hanime.su/ Ladies), first published in September 1928 by Seibundo. The title was after all a pun on Theodoor Hendrik van de Velde’s in style bestselling e-book Het volkomen huwelijk (The perfect Marriage, 1926) which was first printed in Japan in 1946 by Fumoto-sha beneath the title Kanzen naru kekkon and which itself became a seiten traditional.
